LG USB.MP3 - Another iPod Shuffle Lookalike?

June 28th, 2005 by Chi An

LG USB·MP3

Even thought it has a Shuffle-alike design, the LG USB.MP3 can be more than an iPod Shuffle. It can play MP3, WMA, ASF and Ogg Vorbis formatted musics and supports USB 2.0. It can play up to 10 hours per battery charges.

The model is expected to be release on the end of August, at the price of 80,000 Won (Approx US$79) for 512MB version and 110,000 Won (Approx US$109) for 1GB version.

Iv got one and am realy happy with it… battery life is excellent so far.

Be ware you cant stay paused for any length of time (it goes back to the start of the track) and you cant seek the audio= so its not nice for podcasts

Has anyone got a link to the manual of this?

LG has no reference on their webpage to this player.

I formatted the filesystem and now it just flashes a red light when I turn it on or constant red light when its plugged into the usb slot. (and does not register as a USB mass storage device)

Bought one of these for Mandyleigh (singer/songwriter), and have just tested it…. quite impressed really. Great sound quality, easy to use. Manuals for this (or very similar drives) can be grabbed from lg.com…. just look through the flash memory drives for a similar one. email us through mandyleigh.com if you need to drivers or manual otherwise.
I left the manual at home, and couldn’t figure out how to turn the thing on :) Found a reviw on the net which said to press a button down for 5 seconds…. so went through all the buttons until the ‘play/pause’ button did the trick :)
I wonder if there’s a usb charginf battery thing as Mandyleigh is touring in Europe in August, and I don’t think 8 hours will cut it :)

Has anyone figured out how to fix the problem which a fair few people seem to be having with the UP3 - in that it doesn’t connect to some computers as a mass storage device ?? It will recognise the device but only charge its battery up. Does it need a driver or should I just buy a new MP3 player? I’d appreciate any advice on blair.metcalf@downeredimining.com
    thanks
