ilo 1 GB MP3 Player
November 22nd, 2005 by Chi An
I know some of you still looking Siren MP3 players at Walmart stores. Well, you should consider ilo 1 GB MP3 Player. It is also made by GoVideo for Walmart. They have same features excepts design and capacity of flash memory. ilo 1GB MP3 Player has more storage capacity and a sporty design. Those purchase online will have more choices in colors. Walmart offer extra four colors other than orange color, which are white, pink, blue and red.

From the responces of Siren users, it should be worth for the price (about US$100). If you don’t mind more steps in deleting tracks, go get it today at Walmart.

Got one almost two month ago.
Pros:
Inexpensive
SD expansion
good resolution display
Ok sound
Good battery life
Cons:
No folder navigation! (unless u have tags in your files - u r screwed)
Long startup (10 sec+)
Display is too dim in brigh light.
Small and unresponsive five way control buttons (instead of scroll within a track, it usually skips the track)
Crappy volume control - either too loud or too quiet.
Useless voice recorder (you have to speak into it hear something).
Does not resume within the track after power down (bad for audiobooks, podcasts, long tracs)
I think a headphone jack is strarting to go bad.
Overall - I’m taking it back to Wallmart and looking for something else.

just got this mp3 player tonight for my birthday. the jack for the ear buds fell INTO the player…not all the way, but you can see a recess. now you have to hold the jack to one side for the ear buds to work. it’s going back to wal mart tomorrow. i bought 2 sandisk mp3 players as christmas presents. they sound great…going to get one for myself to replace this mistake. not much use in having 1G if you can’t hear the downloads, is there? the 512 sandisk will do just fine.

I lost the installation CD before using it and am unable to obtain a replacement from the FAST, FRIENDLY SERVICE telephone number. Where can I purchase a replcement CD?

Real trash. I purchased the ilo player and a week later the volume button fell in. Return it in exchange for another (ilo) one and the same thing happened. 3rd player ( ok, I didn’t have the original receipt for refund), froze up and won’t do anything. DON’T WASTE YOUR $$$$$$$.

I agree with all you guys. I got one at Christmas time and it is a hunk of junk. Play and you have to hold the button to turn if off forever and then you just barely touch it and it turns back on. Mine is good for about one use. Apparently it taps against something in my gym bag and turns itself back on and kills the battery. Everytime I use it, it won’t turn on. And when you do get it to turn on it wants to start where you left off, but I have yet to figure that out. This hunk is junk is going back to Walmart ASAP. I ordered a Dell Ditty DJ and can’t wait to get it. That has good reviews!!!! Good luck all!

i bought one of those and it work great for a while then i got a message on the screen that says “incorrect format reformat the player!” then it turns off and i tried to reformat it and when it was almost done it said “windows could not finish the reformat” and i don’t know what to do.

Dead in the water —”incorrect format reformat the player” This seems like a common and unrecoverable ailment for the 1 gig ILO. The player wont format. Even tried the 256 firmware upgrade but that wouldnt take.. Here’s the solution…take it back to WalMart!

how about some answers to our questions.
March 14th, 2006 at 2:49 am
I afraid I couldn’t provide you exact solution on your problems as I personally don’t own an iLo MP3 player. However, I has shot an email regarding your questions to Sirenplayer.com. I hope your questions will be answered.

Exactly like Matt said, the ilo was really good for a few days, now it just gives me this reformat crap, and I’ve tried to reformat it, and it won’t work. If anyone has any idea how to fix it, please tell me.

i have the same problem as everybody else i’m tired of looking for info that is correct and works that i think i’ll swith to ipod
March 18th, 2006 at 4:47 am
Okay, here’s the deal. I did figure out what is wrong with all of this. All you have to do is call the customer service people, they’ll send you a “firmware” thing or whatever through an E-mail. Start up the “easy start up program” or whatever they call it and go to trouble shooting, the number will be there. They can help.

I am now on my second ilo mp3 player from the same Wal-Mart store. First one had the power button break (found out from other forums that this is common also). Exchanged it at Wal-Mart and now my second one (which I have been very careful with - so as not to break the power button again) has this “incorrect format” issue. This mp3 player is CRAP! Not reformatable! Now Wal-Mart will not take this one back because I don’t have the package anymore. Wal-Mart Corp. is no help! What a waste of $100!

As the cause might be the buggy firmware, I would suggest you directly contact Siren/iLo custormer support through email and request for a new version of firmware.

Your product is a piece of shit I’ve read all of the comments and most of them say somthing about the reformating of the player. I want my god damn money back or a new mp3 player. I think im speaking for everyone when i say youir product sucks
May 12th, 2006 at 8:12 pm
hey oeeos, my ilo says i should reformat it, help me pls
May 13th, 2006 at 1:26 am
It says you should reformat it, that’s easy. To do that, you plug your ilo into the computer and hit start, my compuer, and then right click on the ilo and hit reformat. The thing is, that is most likely not the problem. The ilo comes with pretty buggy frameware, and it needs to be updated. Call the support people and tell them what’s going on and they’ll send you the update and tell you how to do all of that. Send me an E-mail if you need more help. three_dark_fathers@yahoo.com

That is not the point. I agree with Clay! No one should have to pay for a bran new product just to have to fix it. These things need to be pulled off of the shelf until the manufacturer figures out how to pull their heads out of their asses and make a product that performs as advertised.
May 13th, 2006 at 10:16 pm
I’m not saying that this MP3 players sucks balls, because it does…and quite a few of them. But you get what you pay for, and for about $100 this is a perfect example. I think I’m gonna get an ipod, it’s gotta be famous for a reason.

It took a lot of fighting with Wal-Mart but I finally got them to take that damn ilo back and give me a store credit. I invested another $150 on top of what I had aready spent and got a Zen Sleek Photo 20GB MP3 player by Creative. It costs less than the average iPod and stores songs and photos with a color screen. It was DEFINATELY worth it! If you are not looking to invest as much money but still want the quality of an iPod then the ZEN is the way to go.
My Advice - If you find yourself pulling your hair out over an ilo: take it back to Walmart - no matter how many people you have to complain to - and buy yourself a better MP3 Player. I like the ZEN but anything has to be better than the ilo.

It is a piece of crap. and the manufacturer support is worst. Mine one stopped working after 2 months and I returned to Siren Inc. It has been 5 months I did not get it back. All the time they say wait for 2 more weeks.
