Fake iPod Nano in Japan too

January 22nd, 2006 by Chi An

Apple’s iPod Nano now becomes the most favourite clone digital audio player. These fake iPod Nano are easily found in the retail market, even in Japan. AKIBA PC Hotline recently spotted a fake Nano named, MP34 1GB is sold for just 11,800 Yen (approx US$102)! The size of this MP34 is almost exactly same as original Nano. Most of the features are same as another fake iPod Nano - MSC Dino A. It plays MP3/WMA audio, MPEG-4 video and FM radio.

  1. Fake iPod Nanos hit Manila -- Pinoy Tech Blog - The Philippines’ Premier Technology Blog Says:

I just got one of these from ebay, in a 2gb form. Doesn’t have the same software, obviously, and has a ‘fake’ wheel like the ipod (really just buttons underneath the ‘wheel’). Video on this or even the real iPod is a waste of time, but is watchable. Comes with software to convert to AMV format (AVIs convert very quickly). The only complaint I would have is that the headphones really suck and are not the standard 3.5mm size–they are actually 2.5mm. You can get a converter at Radio Shack, though, for about $1. Overall, not a bad imitation–it just proves that Apple’s mp3 players are way overpriced. If they bring down the price and add some of these features, I might buy one. Otherwise, the 30 or 60gb are the only ipods I’d consider (and once my Dell DJ 20 dies, I’ll be getting one).

I aggree with Scott - I got one on ebay, too. Not a bad imitation, for the price. Horrible navigation, when compared to the real Nano, but with more features and twice the memory, you can’t beat it. I agree that Apple needs to drop the price on their Nano line—$249 for the 4gig is a rip-off.

i just brought a 2gb one of ebay and there is not really a diffence between this and a ipod nano so i think these are the better choice for the money which was only £38 thats including delivery!!!

    Hello!
I have bought one of this player from ebay.
My cable usb is broken after 2 days::
Where I can acquire it is unavailable!

It would be fine if they would tell you it is fake instead of letting you believe it is the real deal. That’s was is making me so mad about it. They advertised it as an Apple Ipod, so that’s what is should be. They could have listed it as what it is. The software they sent I cant use cause it’s in Chinese, so I couldnt use the thing if I wanted to!

My friend gave me her fake ipod because she had no idea how to use it and the disk it came with wouldn’t work with her computer. It wont work with mine either, and im wondering, cant the people who manufacture these things get introuble for putting the ipod logo on the player and trying to pass it off as an ipod? and also, i dont think it is a better deal. i would rather buy an actual ipod because these even feel cheap. the wheel is just buttons and i would rather pay more for something of better quality.

I don’t mind if people sell these for what they are and don’t misuse Apple trademarks. However it is very misleading and illegal (in the UK) to try to pass off non-Apple MP4 players as genuine Apple iPod Nanos. I was a victim when I received a fake iPod from an eBay UK trader based in West Yorkshire, and am still out of pocket.

I bought one off of ebay as well. Advertised as the real thing - the problem is that they didnt include the CD so I cant even install it to try to use the thing. Since everything on it says iPod, I have no idea what to search for to download drivers for it. iTunes doesn’t recognize it of course - anyone have any idea where to get drivers?

I purchase one of this fake’s ipods. Well… I can enjoy playing my mp3 for a while until the firmware becames corrupt and take 1 gb of its original storage to less than 650 Mb.
Somebody knows where I can find the firmware update for this?

  15. MP4 Player Fan Says:

    Answer to Melissa(13),
You can find drivers and software at etronicsland.com

They are free to download in their files download section
