Dell drops hard-drive MP3 line
February 5th, 2006 by Chi An
The world largest PC maker, Dell has decided to drop three hard-drive based Digital Jukebox MP3 players after failing to take market share from Apple’s iPod. However, Dell still sells the flash-based DJ Ditty. The company also continue selling MP3 players from other makers, including Creative through its website.
“We saw an opportunity to streamline and consolidate our portfolio,” Dell spokesman Liem Nguyen said. “We made a decision to transition from the hard-drive products to flash players at the beginning of this year.”
