Sony Discontinues Walkman Bean

Sony finally decided to discontinue the production of Walkman Bean. The jellybean was critiqued since first introduced last August. However, the spokesperson hints that an upgrade could be on the way.
Sony Corp. will discontinue its Walkman Bean portable music players in April, less than six months after the colorful, kidney-shaped player hit the market, according to several UK media reports. The company confirmed the decision to UK newspapers The Telegraph and The Independent.

Dell drops hard-drive MP3 line

The world largest PC maker, Dell has decided to drop three hard-drive based Digital Jukebox MP3 players after failing to take market share from Apple’s iPod. However, Dell still sells the flash-based DJ Ditty. The company also continue selling MP3 players from other makers, including Creative through its website.
“We saw an opportunity to streamline and consolidate our portfolio,” Dell spokesman Liem Nguyen said. “We made a decision to transition from the hard-drive products to flash players at the beginning of this year.”

We had heard about the upcoming Sony PSP’s rival – iRiver G10 just before the CES 2006. However, the picture leaked several days ago was not the iRiver G10. It is iRiver V10, the upgrade version of iRiver G10.
Basically, iRiver G10 is a portable multimedia player that supports audio/video playback, image browsing, and voice recording. Futhermore, with WiBro capability, iRiver G10 may also browse web, read email and play streaming medias. Another exciting feature is that iRiver G10 comes with independent GPU, which makes it comparable to Sony PSP! iRiver V10 is actually the upgrade version of of iRiver G10. It may feature 8 – 16GB of NAND flash memory or a 30GB of 1″ / 1.8″ HDD. The company hopes to improve its resolution of 640 x 480 @ 30fps.
