MobiBLU DAH-1500 Reviewed Again!

It’s MobiBLU DAH-1500 again! Bangraman of Head-Fi had recently got his unit of this cubic Mp3 player and he had written a detailed review on it. It seems that Bangraman has give a praise on it.

How does the sound quality?

The surprising thing given it’s size and concerns over the doubled-up USB socket/headphone jack is that it doesn’t sound crappy. Not the best I’ve heard, but certainly not the worst. Not bad at all actually. The sound is pretty clean, and as dynamic as a headphone amp of this size can be. All-round resolution is decent, trebles are well represented without being brittle or over-bright, and while the bass is not lacking, it does not unnecessarily boost it unless you want.

All in all you won’t be losing anything (if at all) in sound quality compared to the vast majority of the better flash players. I’ll do a more detailed listening test later and post if there are any surprises or nasties lurking. So far, it seems to play everything I throw at it and handles them with aplomb. At this stage, I can’t hand on heart say it’s a standout in terms of sound quality, but it is definitely more than acceptable.

Colorful Case for MobiBLU DAH-1500

Woo, tiny is not enough for MobiBLU DAH-1500. It’s no longer with plain color. Now it’s even more colorful! There are some pretty cute case specially made for this tiny cubic MP3 players.

Look cute, ain’t they? Too bad, it is currently only available at Korea. Well, I heard that JNC will have their own set of cases for their SSF-8100

By the way, these cases are definitely not suit me. Too girlish for me

Firmware Upgrade for MobiBlu DAH-1500

Still remember to the cutie MobiBlu DAH-1500 (a.k.a JNC SSF-8100)? It’s firmware is now updated to version 1.56.

The changes of the new firmware are:

add Fast Forwarding and Rewinding within a track
add Repeat One function
add file sort function
Improved file navigation

How to update firmware?

Here are some step-by-step guides for you!

Unzip downloaded file. (fw.bin, f1.sys)
Connect your MP3 player to PC
Copy fw.bin and f1.sys into root folder of your MP3 player
Safety remove your MP3 player from PC
Check “Menu -> OS VER” for firmware version. If it is v1.56, firmware is successfully updated.

Note:

Please make sure your MP3 player has sufficient battery power to finish the updating process. It may damage your MP3 player if the updating process is interrupted due to insufficient battery power.

JNC launches SSF-F300 Series

JNC recently released their SSF-F300 Series of flash memory based MP3 players. The series includes three models, SSF-F302, SSF-F305, and SSF-F310 with the capacity of 256MB, 512 MB and 1GB repectively.

The player supports playback of MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV and ASF formats and direct MP3 encoding. It will be the smallest MP3 player with built-in speaker in the market. According to the features list from the official website, it has the dimension of 58W x 24.6H x 22D mm with the weight of 28.5g.

JNC SSF-H5

After the debuts of iRiver H10 and Creative Zen Neeon, the JNC also announces their latest SSF-H5 into the battle with Apple’s iPod in the market of harddrive-based MP3 players.

The SSF-H5 is much smaller and lighter among the line-up of the its rivals. The size of this device is about the ordinary flash-based player. But look closer, it is equipped with 1″ microdrive of 5GB capacity. The manufacturer claims that it can store up to 2500 of MP3/WMA songs.

MobiBlu DAH-1500 on Sale as JNC SSF-8100

How cute is this MP3 player cube? The new MobiBlu DAH-1500 is a tiny, tiny MP3 Player measuring only 24×24x24mm.

The MobiBlu DAH-1500 has a OLED display and sports a 20 hours playback time. It features a FM tuner and the headset plug is also the data connector. This cube style player is smaller than the iPod shuffle in Volume.

Now Datum Networks Corp. Ltd. features the MobiBlu in their mp3 player portfolio under the JNC brand. And luckily the JNC SSF-8100 is sold internationally by Hong Kong World Wide Trade (hkwwt) and YesAsia. hkwwt sells the silver 1GB JNC SSF-8100 for $242.31 and yesasia charges $299.99. yesasia also sells the blue 512MB version for $239.99.
