We did mention before that iRiver will make U10 with more capacity. But does it really exists? iMP3.net have found some clues at a Germany online store.
It is most likely that the
U10 8GB will be a harddisk based player.
Why?
The flash-based U10 2GB is priced at 279 EUR (approx US$ 335). If it is flash-based, the price might be unacceptable. Besides, the 8GB version of U10 is slightly fatter than other U10. Its dimension is 69 x 47 x 21 mm, where the dimension for other U10 is 69 x 47 x 16mm. Thus, most probably its storage medium will be a 1″ micro harddisk drive!
Is it for real? I can’t confirm it. But I’ll keep you updated!

Wonder what is inside the iRiver H10 Junior? There are some pictures posted at Chinese MP3 forum. These pictures showed that iRiver has made some changes on the decoder they use. It’s not Philips but Samsung’s chip inside the H10 Junior!
Wow, what a pretty babe! But we gonna take a look piece by piece.

It is
out of most people’s expectation that iRiver do not use the familiar Philips’ or Telechip’s decoders. Quite surprisingly, the T10 is powered by Samsung’s decoder,
SA58450X01 (ARM9 200MHz). This decoder was the joint efforts of Samsung, iRiver and another company. However, iRiver is the first company which bring it into mass production. It seems that the decoder is comparable to Philips’ decoder from the aspects of T10’s specification. It has extra long battery life (53 hours with AA battery) and supports image-viewing while music playback.

Definitely, it is no doubt on the sound quality of iRiver’s products. However, the iRiver’s move seems tend to reduce production cost rather than improve product quality.

The company also annouced the retail price of this model. The price tags are 24,980 Yen (approx US$224) for 512MB version and 29,980 Yen (US$269) for 1GB version. It seem reasonable for this cool babe!
