Sony NW-A808 Now In White and Pink

Sony Japan is going to make its NW-808 8GB Walkman available in white and pink colors from 10th July. It is expected to be priced at 32,800 Yen (approx US$266).

It is capable to playback MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video @ 30fps on its 2″ QVGA display. For audio playback, it supports ATRAC3/ATRAC3plus and MP3/WMA/AAC but no WMA/AAC DRM. Like other Sony’s Walkman, it has an extra long battery life. For a 3-hour charge, it can playback up to 30 hours of audio or 8 hours of video.

Is Sony China bringing us new products after the unsuccessful CE-P series? There is a rumor tells that two new series PMX-U50 and PMX-M70 will be released some time between this month and the coming May.

Sony CE-P Uses ALi Solution

The new Sony CE-P series was speculated to be based on SigmaTel’s solution as it is manufactured by A-MAX, who has strategic partnership with SigmaTel. However, a member of iMP3 has discovered that it is powered by ALi M5661 solution. It is rare to see an ALi-powered MP3 player in the market, only Newman A50 found.

Sony Europe Unveils New Network Walkman

We have just seen the new CE-P series MP3 player by Sony China. Now, Sony Europe unveills new addition to their Walkman series, which is NWA-00x series that disclosed before. It is Sony’s low end solution that may compete with Apple’s iPod Shuffle. The new Walkman will be available from the end of April 2006 across Europe.

New Sony CE-P Series

Finally, Sony decided to make MP3 player with color display! Sony China has introduced the new CE-P series that features an 1.5″ 260K color OLED display. The new MP3 player is also the first model that design by Sony China Creative Center based in Shanghai. Other features include MP3/WMA playback, build-in FM tuner, FM recording, voice recording, BMP/JPEG display and so on.

There are 3 models in new CE-P series, which are:

  1. CE-P17: 1GB, black and gold color, RMB1199 (approx US$150)
  2. CE-P15: 512MB, black, silver and red color, RMB999 (approx US$125)
  3. CE-P13: 256MB, black, silver and red color, RMB799 (approx US$100)

The gold color CE-P17 will be only available in Sony Style stores.
