iPod Nano available in 1GB

Apple is now slowly phasing out its low-end iPod Shuffle by introducing new iPod Nano 1GB. The new iPod Nano is listed at Apple website today at reasonable price of $149. Meanwhile, Apple also slashed the price of iPod Shuffle to $69 for 512MB and $99 for 1GB.

This seems to be a big impact to the industry, especially Dell which just keep flash-based DJ Ditty. Dell again losses its competitive with new pricing of iPod Shuffle.

O Cube Mobispeaker

MobiBLU has brought us another tiny cube-sized gadget! It’s O Cube Mobispeaker this time. It is a self-powered portable speaker. This little speaker features a built-in 210mA Li-on battery that charged over USB. The O Cube is not limited for the use of mobiBLU DAH-1500 Cube. It is compatible with any MP3 players that housing a 3.5mm headphone jack. The O Cube sells for 22,000 Won (approx US$23) in Korea. Well, no idea when will it be available outside Korea.

Dell drops hard-drive MP3 line

The world largest PC maker, Dell has decided to drop three hard-drive based Digital Jukebox MP3 players after failing to take market share from Apple’s iPod. However, Dell still sells the flash-based DJ Ditty. The company also continue selling MP3 players from other makers, including Creative through its website.

“We saw an opportunity to streamline and consolidate our portfolio,” Dell spokesman Liem Nguyen said. “We made a decision to transition from the hard-drive products to flash players at the beginning of this year.”

How thin do you think an MP3 player can be? It’s 5mm! The Hi-Fi expert, Sherwood has introduced the thinnest MP3 player – Digital Audio Card. The Korean made MP3 player is just about the size of a credit card, 5 x 61× 91mm and weight 48.5g. Due to its ultra thin body, it doesn’t carry fancy features. It only has a tiny screen and four buttons. Its screen is just about useless, which can only display 2 digit of number. However, its Li-Polymer battery can play up to 8 hours continuosly! Also, its front panel case is replaceable.
